Hoshiarpur Municipal Corporation Passes Annual Budget of 8961 Lakhs
Hoshiarpur: Providing details on the matter, Mayor Surinder Kumar announced that the Hoshiarpur Municipal Corporation has passed an annual budget amounting to ?8961.00 lakhs for the financial year 2026-27. In this regard, a special meeting of the House was convened, which was notably attended by Municipal Commissioner Jyoti Bala Mattu. Additionally, Senior Deputy Mayor Parveen Lata Saini, Deputy Mayor Ranjit Chaudhary, along with various councilors and corporation officials, were present at the meeting.
The Mayor stated that during the meeting, a detailed discussion was held regarding the projected income and expenditure for the year 2026-27. This year, the Municipal Corporation estimates a total income of ?8961.00 lakhs, against which the budget has been allocated for various developmental works.
He further informed that ?6 crores will be spent on the installation of streetlights and the maintenance of tube wells in the city; ?3 crores for the construction of new roads; ?3 crores for roads paved with interlocking tiles; ?2 crores for the construction of night shelters; and ?1 crore for the expansion of sewerage lines. Furthermore, an amount of ?15 lakhs has been sanctioned for the maintenance of parks; ?60 lakhs for the care of *Gaushalas* (cow shelters) and stray animals; ?35 lakhs for public toilets; and ?1 crore for purchasing machinery to strengthen the city's sanitation system.
Mayor Surinder Kumar added that the Hoshiarpur Municipal Corporation is fully committed to providing the city's residents with 100 percent basic amenities—such as roads, clean drinking water, streetlights, a sewerage system, and parks.
Appealing to the residents, he urged them to fulfill their civic responsibility by depositing their taxes and fees to the Municipal Corporation on time, so that public funds can be utilized for the holistic development of the city and for works serving the public interest. On this occasion, Joint Commissioner Satish Kumar Saini, Assistant Commissioner Lakhvir Singh, Corporation Engineers Kuldeep Singh and Harpreet Singh, Deputy Controller of Finance and Accounts Pankaj Kapoor, and Accountant Rajinder Kumar were also present.
