Hoshiarpur achieves first position in Punjab in sex ratio
Hoshiarpur:- According to the latest data released by the Health Department Punjab, district Hoshiarpur has registered a significant achievement by securing first position in the entire state on the basis of continuous improvement in sex ratio. 970 girls have been registered for every 1000 boys in the district, which shows a positive change towards gender equality.
During a function organized at the state level for this commendable performance, Health Minister Hon’ble Dr. Balbir Singh honored Civil Surgeon Hoshiarpur Dr. Balbir Singh and District Family Welfare Officer Dr. Ranjit Singh. PNDT Coordinator Abhay Mohan was also present on the occasion.
Civil Surgeon Hoshiarpur Dr. Balvir Singh said that the Health Minister has specially appreciated the district’s Beti Bachao Beti Padhao awareness activities, strict implementation of PCPNDT Act and dedicated efforts made by the department for gender equality. Under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, the Punjab Government is taking special efforts to balance the sex ratio and encourage the birth of girls.
District Family Welfare Officer Dr. Ranjit Singh said that this achievement is the result of the joint efforts of every officer of the district, medical officer, field staff, ASHA workers as well as the residents of district Hoshiarpur. He also said that providing equal opportunities to every girl child in the district from birth to full development is the priority of the Health Department.
