Historic step taken at AI Summit IndiaUS PAX Silica agreement

New Delhi:- On the last day of the 'India AI Impact Summit 2026', India and the US signed the 'PAX Silica' declaration. The aim of this agreement is to secure the global semiconductor and AI supply chain and reduce dependence on unfriendly countries.
Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnav and US Secretary of Economic Affairs Jacob Helberg signed the agreement. Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnav said that India has now become a part of PAX Silica, which will greatly benefit the electronics and semiconductor sectors of the country.
He said that work is already underway on 10 plants in India. Commercial chip production will start soon at the country's first semiconductor plant. Vaishnav also shared that Indian engineers are now designing advanced 2-nanometer chips domestically.
Ashwini Vaishnav said that the semiconductor industry will need about 1 million additional skilled professionals in the future, and the world expects this from India. He said, "The country now has a clear direction and goal. We have to take global leadership in the semiconductor and electronics industry." US Ambassador Sergio Gore, who attended the summit, described India's entry into the alliance as strategically important.
He said, "India has talent that can face any challenge. India's engineering depth is very important for this alliance." Sergio Gore described the summit being held in India as very impressive. When asked about the meeting between Prime Minister Modi and US President Donald Trump, he indicated, "Stay tuned. I am sure it will happen at the right time."
During the "PAX Silica" agreement between India and the United States, Google and Alphabet CEO Sundar Pichai said that the aim of this agreement is to ensure a safe and reliable supply chain. Moreover, it will open new business avenues in important technologies.
Emphasizing the strong ties between India and the United States, Sundar Pichai said that everyone should benefit from AI. He added that Google is fully supporting the development of AI in India through its products, infrastructure and specialized business solutions.
