Heritage Festival Organised at Khalsa College

Garhshankar:– A Heritage Festival dedicated to the month of Sawan was organised at Babbar Akali Memorial Khalsa College, Garhshankar, functioning under the management of the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee. The event was jointly organised by the College Women Cell and Cultural Committee. During the festival, college students presented various cultural performances.
On the occasion, the students gave impressive presentations of Suhag, Ghorian and folk songs, along with the traditional Punjabi folk dance Giddha. Competitions reflecting Punjabi culture, including mehndi, making seviyan, making khiddo, stitching and crochet, were also organised. The students participated enthusiastically and won prizes.
Addressing the gathering during the Heritage Festival, Principal Dr. Amandeep Heera encouraged the students to remain connected with their heritage and culture. He appreciated the keen interest shown by the students in the Heritage Festival and their participation in various cultural activities.
On the occasion, the title of Miss Punjaban was won by student Shabana of B.A. Part III. Lovepreet Kaur of B.A. Part I was declared the first runner-up, while Diksha of M.Sc. Second Year was declared the second runner-up.
During the programme, Dr. Kanwaljit Kaur efficiently carried out the responsibility of stage anchoring. At the beginning of the event, Dr. Naresh Kumari highlighted the cultural significance of heritage and Teeyan. Dr. Janaki Aggarwal, Coordinator of the Women Cell, expressed gratitude to everyone.
Prof. Lakhwinderjit Kaur, Dr. Manbir Kaur, Prof. Ritu Singh, Dr. Arvinder Kaur, Dr. Harwinder Kaur and other staff members also attended the programme. The enthusiastic participation of the students made the event memorable.
