Heart patient gets new life
Mohali:- A 68-year-old heart patient got a new life after minimally invasive cardiac surgery at Livasa Hospital, Mohali. The patient had a history of heart disease, in which three stents were inserted in the same main artery. The patient had undergone several surgeries earlier, the last of which was placed eight years ago. Recently, he started experiencing severe chest discomfort and sharp pain again. After consultation at several centers, the patient was advised to undergo open-heart surgery.
After a detailed evaluation, the cardiology team led by Dr. Ishant Singla, Consultant, Cardiothoracic and Vascular Surgery, Livasa Hospital, successfully performed minimally invasive coronary artery bypass grafting, avoiding sternotomy by using small incisions.
After the surgery, the patient's health improved rapidly and he was discharged in a stable condition. Dr. Ishant Singla said that minimally invasive cardiac surgery is a revolutionary change for selected patients, especially those who are afraid of traditional open-heart surgery.
