Hoshiarpur:- With the aim of providing high-quality health facilities to pregnant women under Maternal and Child Health Services and reducing maternal mortality rate, a Maternal Death Review Committee meeting was organized today at the Civil Surgeon Office Hoshiarpur. This meeting was held under the chairmanship of Civil Surgeon Dr. Mandeep Kamal and under the guidance of District Family Welfare Officer Dr. Ranjit Singh. During this, a detailed review of maternal deaths of village Ajram of Community Health Center Harta Badla was conducted.
Civil Surgeon Dr. Mandeep Kamal said that to prevent maternal deaths, it is very important to identify high-risk pregnant women on time. All their necessary tests should be done within the stipulated time and appropriate treatment should be provided as per the requirement. He stressed that continuous contact should be maintained with pregnant women who have given birth during the month and their continuous follow-up should be done by ASHA workers and ANMs so that immediate health facilities can be provided in case of any crisis.
The Civil Surgeon instructed all the medical officers and field staff to ensure that there is no blood deficiency among pregnant women, for this, the availability of iron and folic acid should be ensured by ANMs. This can prevent post-mortem hemorrhage deaths during childbirth to a great extent. He issued clear instructions that not every pregnant woman should deliver at home and all deliveries should be done 100 percent institutionally.
