Health Department issues tips and guidelines to protect against cold wave

Hoshiarpur:- Keeping in mind the continuously increasing cold, Civil Surgeon Hoshiarpur Dr. Balvir Kumar Ji has issued a detailed advisory for the safety of the people. He said that due to the continuous drop in temperature, people are exposed to cold for a long time, the risk of diseases like flu, runny nose, hypothermia, frostbite etc. increases.
Giving information about the advisory, Dr. Balvir Kumar said that during the upcoming cold wave, people should fully follow the instructions issued by the Health Department. He said that when the minimum temperature in plain areas is 10 degrees Celsius or less and in hilly areas it is 0 degrees Celsius or less, it is considered a cold wave.
The Civil Surgeon said that prolonged exposure to cold can lead to problems like flu and runny nose, if such symptoms are seen, a doctor should be contacted immediately. Stay indoors as much as possible during the cold wave and minimize travel to avoid exposure to cold air. Eat healthy and nutritious food to keep the body temperature balanced.
It was advised to eat fruits rich in vitamin C, honey, jaggery and seasonal vegetables. Drink warm fluids regularly to maintain body heat. Avoid consuming alcohol, as it reduces body temperature. He said that if numbness, whiteness or pale appearance is seen in the fingers, toes, earlobes or tip of the nose, it should not be ignored. Warm the parts affected by cold with lukewarm (not too hot) water.
