Health Advisory against Air Pollution issued by the Health Department
Patiala 20 November:- In view of the seriousness of air pollution, as per the guidelines of the Honorable Health Minister Punjab Dr. Balbir Singh Ji, Civil Surgeon Dr. Sanjay Kamra appealed to the people to be vigilant and take necessary precautions and said that it is very important to have a clean and hygienic environment for creating a healthy society.
While giving information, Civil Surgeon Dr. Sanjay Kamra said that air pollution has an adverse effect on the health of young children, pregnant women, elderly people above 60 years of age, patients suffering from diabetes, respiratory, asthma, heart diseases etc. He said that problems like cough, shortness of breath, runny nose, cold, redness in the eyes, itching and irritation arise due to air pollution.
Therefore, young children, elderly people, pregnant women and patients suffering from diseases for a long time should avoid outdoor activities. If any problem arises, then treatment should be done immediately as per medical advice. The Civil Surgeon said that during air pollution, outdoor activities should be avoided, especially in the morning and evening, while going out, masks should be used and clothes that cover the entire body should be worn. A balanced diet should be used.
He said that to reduce air pollution, attention should be paid to manual work instead of machinery. As much as possible, two-wheeled and four-wheeled vehicles running on petrol and diesel should be used as little as possible. Maximum bicycles should be used. Stubble burning should not be done and maximum trees should be planted.
