Haryana records highest growth in SGST collection across the country

Chandigarh, September 2:- Haryana has recorded a 29 percent increase in State GST (SGST) collection in the first five months of the current financial year 2026-27, which is the highest among all the states in the country. During this period, the state's SGST collection stood at Rs 24,662 crore, while it was Rs 19,174 crore in the same period of the previous financial year. This growth of the state is almost double the national average growth rate of 16 percent.
An official spokesperson said that in August 2026 too, Haryana has recorded a remarkable growth in SGST collection. This month, the state has collected SGST. (After Adjustment) a revenue of Rs. 4,982 crore was received, while in the month of August last year this collection was Rs. 4,119 crore. Thus, in August 2026, a growth of 21 percent has been recorded in SGST collection, which is more than the national average growth rate of 13 percent.
The spokesperson said that at present there are a total of 6.63 lakh GST taxpayers in Haryana. This number is less than 4 percent of the total GST taxpayers of the country. Despite this, Haryana's contribution to the total GST collection of the country (SGST+CGST+IGST) is about 7.7 percent.
The spokesperson further said that a remarkable growth has also been recorded in VAT/CST collection in the state. In the first five months of the financial year 2026-27, VAT/CST A collection of Rs 5,768 crore has been made, while it was Rs 5,067 crore in the same period last year. Thus, a 13.8 percent increase has been recorded in VAT/CST collection.
