Haryana Government orders statewide fire safety audit in nightclubs bars and pubs

Chandigarh, December 10:- The Haryana Government has issued orders for immediate fire safety audit of nightclubs, bars, pubs and other entertainment venues with dance floors. These orders have been issued in view of the lapses in fire safety in such establishments.
Dr. Sumita Mishra, Financial Commissioner, Revenue and Disaster Management Department, said that these orders have been issued with the aim of ensuring public safety and preventing any kind of fire-related accident.
Dr. Mishra stressed on the need for increased vigilance and strict adherence to safety standards in Haryana. All Deputy Commissioners have been directed to immediately conduct a comprehensive fire safety audit of nightclubs, bars, pubs and similar establishments with large crowds. These audits will be conducted as per the provisions of the National Building Code, 2016 and the Haryana Fire and Emergency Services Act, 2022. The authorities have been directed to complete these audits and submit the reports within a time limit of seven days.
The audit will focus on the availability of emergency exits and their proper functioning, provision of fire extinguishing arrangements, validity of licenses and permits and compliance with prescribed fire and life safety standards. Dr. Mishra clarified that any violation or deficiency found during the audit should be addressed immediately and strict action will be taken for the same under the law.
The Deputy Commissioners have been directed to submit detailed audit reports within seven days along with details of action taken or proposed. According to the Finance Commissioner, this initiative is being taken to strengthen the state's fire safety preparedness and keep public places in Haryana safe from any possible mishap.
