Haryana Government has taken steps against noncommunicable diseases Health Minister Aarti Singh Rao
Chandigarh, March 19:- Haryana Health Minister Mrs. Aarti Singh Rao said that the state government is working on a comprehensive scale for the prevention and control of non-communicable diseases including heart diseases. She said that the National Programme for the Prevention and Control of these diseases has been implemented in all 22 districts of the state.
She informed that under this programme, NCD clinics have been established in all 22 districts. Apart from this, NCD clinics are also being run in 170 sub-divisional district hospitals and community health centres and 292 primary health centres so that health facilities can be provided to the people nearby.
The Health Minister said that screening of persons aged 30 years and above for non-communicable diseases is being done in all health institutions of the state. This screening includes diseases like diabetes, high blood pressure and cancer of the mouth, breast and cervix so that timely identification and treatment is possible.
As per the data available on the National NCD Portal till 31st January 2026, a total of 1,01,24,147 people have been screened in the state. Out of these, treatment of 8,62,764 persons suffering from high blood pressure has been started which shows the active efforts of the government.
Aarti Singh Rao said that as per the State Essential Medicine List, essential medicines for the treatment of high blood pressure and heart related diseases are being made available in the districts. Also, super specialty services like Cath Lab and Cardiac Center have been set up in District Civil Hospitals of Ambala, Faridabad, Gurugram and Panchkula under Public-Private Partnership model.
He said that the Health Department is paying special attention to the prevention of non-communicable diseases to reduce their increasing burden. People are being made aware to avoid major risk factors and adopt a healthy lifestyle. National and International Non-Communicable Diseases Awareness Days are also celebrated every year to increase awareness at the community level.
The Health Minister reiterated that the government is committed to making the state free from non-communicable diseases through early detection, better treatment and widespread awareness.
