Greenland case Trump announces to impose taxes on eight European countries

Washington: US President Donald Trump made a big announcement on Saturday, saying that he will impose a wave of import tariffs (taxes) on its European allies until the US is allowed to buy Greenland.
Trump said on the social media platform 'Truth Social' that an additional 10 percent tariff will be applied on goods coming from Denmark, Norway, Sweden, France, Germany, the Netherlands, Finland and Britain from February 1, which will increase to 25 percent by June 1. Trump has described Greenland as important for American security and mineral reserves, while the leaders of Denmark and Greenland have made it clear that the island is not for sale.
This decision has been strongly condemned by the European Union and British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, who have called it a wrong move against NATO allies. Meanwhile, the US Supreme Court is conducting a legal review of the president's powers to impose tariffs, which could have a major impact on the global economy.
