Government Teachers Union Criticizes Government for Threatening Livelihood of 4161 Teachers
Hoshiarpur:- A wave of anger has spread among teachers as Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, who once promised to use a "green pen" in favor of the unemployed, has today used a "red pen" to terminate nearly 300 teachers in Punjab. Narinder Ajnoha, President of the Government Teachers' Union (Block Kot Fatuhi), and General Secretary Onkar Singh stated that the notification for the recruitment of 4,161 Master Cadre positions was issued by the previous government in 2021. Subsequently, the Punjab Government distributed appointment letters to these teachers in January 2023. Even then, the Bhagwant Mann government delayed sending them to schools for a long time before finally allowing them to join later in 2023.
However, recently, the Education Department issued notices to approximately 300 teachers from the 4,161 Master Cadre recruitment, clearly stating that they would be terminated from their jobs. Furthermore, directions have been given to halt the probation period of these teachers. The union leaders have urged the Chief Minister and the Education Minister to immediately withdraw the notices issued to these teachers. They warned that if the government does not revoke these notices, a massive struggle will be launched, and they will not allow any teacher to lose their job under any circumstances.
Present on the occasion were Narinder Ajnoha, Onkar Singh, Hafiz, Kulwinder Singh, Manohar Lal, Kulwant Singh, Ravi Kumar, Ashwani Kumar, Maheshinder Singh, Sukhvir Singh, Baljinder Singh, Karamvir Singh, Ajay Kumar, Hemraj, Mandeep Singh, and Sandeep Kumar.
