Goa Night Club Fire Luthra brothers reach Delhi
Chandigarh:- The Thai police have arrested the Luthra brothers, Saurabh and Gaurav Luthra, owners of a Goa nightclub. 25 people died in a fire at this nightclub in Goa. These two brothers had left the country within a few hours of the accident and fled to Phuket, Thailand. Both were present at a wedding in Delhi at the time of the accident.
Both of them have reached Delhi from India, after which Saurabh Luthra and Gaurav Luthra will be taken to Delhi's Patiala House Court by the central agencies, from where the Goa police will obtain their transit remand.
The Luthra brothers are being deported from Bangkok so that they can be charged with running a club without any security permit. It is suspected that the fire broke out during a fire show in their club on December 6.
Meanwhile, the Goa government has formed a special legal team to ensure effective prosecution of the case. The police have registered a case under Section 105 of the Indian Penal Code, which carries a penalty of up to 10 years in prison. The investigating officers are collecting evidence in relation to all the alleged violations committed by the Luthra brothers to prepare a strong chargesheet.
Indian authorities have provided all the necessary documents to the Thai authorities, including the necessary emergency certificates issued after the brothers' passports were cancelled.
Thai police had taken the brothers into custody from a resort in Phuket on Thursday after India requested the Thai authorities to suspend their passports and deport them. An Indian agency is also coordinating the formalities for the return of the two brothers.
