From Lalhari in Una to the Know India Programme Sahil Dhimans Proud Journey
Una: Sahil Dhiman, hailing from Lalhari, a small town in Una district of Himachal Pradesh, has brought pride to his family, region, and country on an international level. Sahil has been selected for the 85th Know India Programme (KIP), organized by the Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India, and is the only participant selected from Australia. This program is a prestigious platform that connects young overseas Indians from around the world with India's culture, institutions, and development journey.
Sahil Dhiman is the son of Vijay Dhiman and Anita Dhiman, who migrated from India to Australia in 2006. Sahil moved to Australia with his parents at the age of just three, where he grew up with his twin sisters. His grandfather, Baldev Singh Dhiman, is a retired soldier of the Indian Army. Despite living abroad, the family remains deeply connected to discipline, patriotism, and Indian values.
Despite growing up abroad, Sahil has maintained a continuous connection with his Indian identity and Himachali roots. This cultural connection, global perspective, and sense of social responsibility formed a crucial basis for his selection for the Know India Programme.
During his visit to India, Sahil participated in several important national programs, including the Developed India Youth Leaders Dialogue. He participated in dialogue sessions held under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. In addition, he also participated in the address by National Security Advisor Ajit Doval and the dialogue session with Indian astronaut Shivanshu Shukla. These experiences gave him the opportunity to understand India's national security, science, technology, and innovation policies.
Sahil has completed his education in Australia, earning qualifications in Business Management and Electrical Engineering (Diploma), which clearly demonstrates his academic discipline and technical expertise.
Currently, Sahil is involved in his family's electrical and automation business in Australia. They plan to contribute to India's development journey in the future and aspire to be involved in initiatives that promote innovation and entrepreneurship. Sahil is keen to explore opportunities to align with national programs like the Prime Minister's Startup India initiative, aiming to build a strong bridge between India and the Indian diaspora youth through his global academic and technical experience.
This achievement of Sahil Dhiman is a source of pride not only for his family but also for Una district, Himachal Pradesh, and the Indian community settled in Australia. His journey symbolizes the strengthening ties between India and its diaspora youth.
