Former Punjab Cabinet Minister Lal Singh passes away

Chandigarh:- Senior Punjab Congress leader and former Cabinet Minister Lal Singh passed away this morning. He breathed his last at Max Hospital in Chandigarh. It is being told that he had been ill for a long time and was undergoing treatment in the hospital. Lal Singh's demise has created a big void in Punjab politics.
Lal Singh started his political journey with the Indian National Congress in the 1980s. While being active at the organizational level, he established a strong hold in the Patiala region and gradually emerged as an influential leader. He got his first major success in 1992, when he was elected as an MLA from the Patiala Rural Assembly constituency.
After this, he also won in 2002, 2007 and 2012. During the Congress government, he worked as a Cabinet Minister and held the responsibility of many important departments including Food and Supplies.
