Former DIG Harcharan Bhullar sent to fiveday remand

Chandigarh- The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has obtained a five-day remand of former DIG of Punjab Police Harcharan Singh Bhullar, arrested in a bribery case. In this regard, the CBI had filed an application in the special CBI court in Chandigarh seeking Bhullar's remand.
Hearing which, the court has sent Harcharan Singh Bhullar to the CBI on five-day remand. However, earlier, the CBI had obtained a 9-day remand of Krishna, who was arrested in the said case. Now the CBI can question Bhullar and Krishna face to face.
It is worth mentioning that the CBI had arrested Krishna Sharda on October 16 while accepting a bribe of Rs 5 lakh from a scrap dealer. He was taking this amount in the name of the then DIG of Ropar Range Harcharan Singh Bhullar. After this, the CBI also arrested Bhullar. After Bhullar's arrest, during the raid conducted at his residence in Sector-40, Chandigarh, the CBI seized Rs 7.5 crore in cash and 2.5 kg of gold ornaments.
Apart from this, during the search, 26 luxury watches including Rolex and Rado, more than 50 immovable property documents in the names of family members and suspected benami entities, locker keys, details of several bank accounts and four weapons with 100 cartridges were also seized. The CBI has also registered a new case of disproportionate assets against Harcharan Singh Bhullar recently.
