Former Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina sentenced to 10 years in prison

Dhaka: A Bangladesh court has sentenced former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina to 10 years in prison in two corruption cases in the allocation of plots under the Purbanchal New Town government project. Sheikh Hasina has been sentenced to 5 years each in both the cases. According to a report by the state-run BSS news agency, Judge Rabiul Alam of the Dhaka Special Judge's Court sentenced Hasina to 10 years in prison.
The court sentenced 78-year-old Hasina, her nephew Radwan Mujib Siddique and her nieces Tulip Rizwana Siddique and Azmina Siddique and others in cases of alleged irregularities in the allocation of plots under the Rajuk New Town project in Purbanchal.
Tulip Siddique was sentenced to four years in prison while Radwan Mujib Siddique and Azmina Siddique were sentenced to seven years in prison in both cases.
