Football players and coaches were awarded a prize money of Rs 1 lakh
Mahilpur, October 25 - In the memory of the former captain of the Indian team, the country's famous footballer, the late Manjit Singh, the Manjit Memorial Annual Football Award ceremony with a prize money of Rs. 1 lakh was organized at Sri Guru Gobind Singh Khalsa College Mahilpur here in memory of his family members to honor the excellent services of football players and coaches.
It is worth mentioning that Khair Achharwal player Manjit Singh, who has received many honors including the Maharaja Ranjit Singh Award from the Punjab Government, has demonstrated his sporting talent as an excellent player in many clubs including the captain of the Indian football team.
In his memory, the family members have decided to give an annual prize money of Rs. 1 lakh to football players and coaches who have performed well in the field of football under the leadership of Sardar Ravinder Singh Dhami from last year. Under this, the second award ceremony held in the college was attended by Arjuna Award winning football player Gurdev Singh Gill, Treasurer of the college's management committee Virinder Sharma, Pr. Dr. Parvinder Singh, Sardar Ravinder Singh Dhami.
On this occasion, the organizers distributed prize money of one lakh rupees to ten football players and four coaches of Punjab. Coach Harinder Sunny, Coach Bandana Singh, Coach Jhalman Singh and Coach Dalbir Singh, who have rendered good services in football training, were honored. On this occasion, footballer Gurdev Singh Gill appreciated the initiative of the family members for this honor started in the memory of the late player Manjit Singh.
Principal Dr. Parvinder Singh shared words of thanks. On this occasion, famous football promoter Pr. Jagmohan Singh, football players Madan Lal, Gurdial Singh Kaharpur, lecturer Saudagar Singh, lecturer Harbhajan Singh Ajnoha, Pawan Kumar, Prof. Raj Kumar etc. were present along with the staff and students of the college.
