Food Commission Member Chetan Prakash Dhaliwal makes surprise visit to Hoshiarpur District
Hoshiarpur:- Punjab State Food Commission Member Chetan Prakash Dhaliwal made a surprise visit to Hoshiarpur District today. During this visit, he inspected various schemes running under the National Food Security Act 2013. He said that at the beginning of this visit, Government Elementary School, Ahrana Khurd was inspected. During the inspection, the mid-day meal scheme running at the school was checked.
During the checking, it was found that the cleanliness management at the school was very poor. The TDS of the drinking water given to the children was also checked. After this, an inspection was conducted at Government Elementary School, Purhiran-2. Defects were also found at this school. There was a filter in the school, but it was faulty. Mid-day meal scheme was also inspected at Government Elementary School, Purhiran-2.
During the inspection, wheat and rice were found to be contaminated and the rice given to the children was raw. The rice was not cooked properly. The utensils were also not cleaned properly. TDS of water given to the children was also found to be 527. Regarding the shortcomings found during the checking in the above schools, the District Education Officer present on the spot was instructed to remove these shortcomings and take necessary action against the concerned officials and send the report to the Commission.
After inspecting the schools, the Anganwadi centers were visited. Information was obtained about the beneficiaries and the benefits given to them at Anganwadi Center Code No. 2 and 3 Ahrana Khurd Centers. The member expressed satisfaction regarding the work of the Center and also gave directions for further improvements.
During the checking at Anganwadi Setter Code No. 23 Ahrana Khurd, it was found that the workers reached the center at 10.30 am, which is a violation of government instructions. In this regard, the District Program Officer present at the spot was instructed to take necessary action after issuing a show cause notice to the concerned officers.
During the checking at Anganwadi Setter Code No. 202 Purhiran, a large quantity of ration was found, the expiry date of which had expired. The officers present at the spot could not give any clear answer in this regard. Taking immediate action on which, the member instructed the District Program Officer to take necessary action.
After this, the distribution of wheat taking place at Ration Depot Qaimpur and Block 2 Cantonment Kalan (CAP) was inspected. During the inspection, it was found that the distribution of wheat was being done in an increased manner. Discussions were also held with the beneficiaries present at the spot.
The beneficiaries expressed satisfaction. The members instructed the District Food Supply Controller to put up awareness banners on the depots. During this visit, the beneficiaries were also informed about the Commission's helpline number 9876764545 and also informed that they can also register complaints regarding the schemes running under the National Food Security Act 2013 with the Additional Deputy Commissioner (Development) of the district.
