Folk media shared techniques for better disaster management and safe building construction

Una, October 25 - As part of the District Disaster Management and Authority, Una's Samarth 2025 program, artists from RK Kalamanch Chintpurni, a registered organization with the Information and Public Relations Department, raised awareness among the people of Kuneran and Oil on the importance of better disaster management and earthquake-safe building construction on Saturday.
During this, they informed the villagers about various techniques for building earthquake-resistant houses to reduce loss of life and property during an earthquake. They emphasized that collective efforts are essential to reduce the damage caused by disasters. It is crucial to build safe buildings that can withstand disasters and minimize losses.
They emphasized that the use of technology is essential to stay safe from disasters. Consult an engineer before making any structural changes to buildings to minimize earthquake damage.
In safe building construction, awareness was created about good cement mortar, horizontal earthquake resistant bands, strengthening of brick walls, vertical strengthening in opening jambs, pillar construction, piling methods, concrete standards and essential elements used in foundation construction.
