Fish seeds provided to 10 fish farmers under Atma scheme
Sahibzada Ajit Singh Nagar, August 14:- Under the Atma scheme of the Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Department, 10 selected fish farmers of Sahibzada Ajit Singh Nagar district were provided with fish seeds. These fish seeds were made available from Fish Seeds Farm, Village Bagrian, District Fatehgarh Sahib.
The main objective of this initiative is to promote fish farming in the district in a scientific and modern manner and to provide information about the latest techniques to the fish farmers. Exhibitions were also organized in the ponds of the selected fish farmers under Atma scheme, through which other farmers and fish farmers were given information about scientific techniques related to pond management, fish feed, water quality and production increase.
Giving information in this regard, Assistant Director Fisheries, S.A.S. Nagar Mrs. Hardeep Kaur said that these activities being conducted under the Atma scheme are proving helpful in encouraging fish farmers to adopt modern and scientific methods. She said that through these exhibitions, fish farmers are getting practical information about new technologies, which will help in increasing fish production as well as increasing the income of farmers.
She said that the government is providing various schemes and technical assistance to farmers adopting fish farming as a subsidiary agricultural business. She appealed to the fish farmers to contact the Fisheries Department to take maximum benefit of the government schemes and increase their income by adopting fish farming in a scientific manner.
The district administration has appealed to the farmers to increase their sources of income by adopting subsidiary businesses along with agriculture and take advantage of the technical and financial assistance being provided by the government.
