Fifth Kesadhari Hockey League Gold Cup Starts with Great Fanfare in Mohali
S.A.S. Nagar, November 10- The Fifth Kesadhari League Hockey Gold Cup Under-19 was inaugurated with great pomp and show today at Olympian Balbir Singh Senior International Hockey Stadium in Mohali by the International Sikh Sports Council. This tournament, dedicated to the 350th Martyrdom Day of Ninth Patshahi Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Sahib Ji, was kick-started by the Dasmesh Gatka Dal Yamunanagar jatha showcasing gatka prowess. The inauguration of this six-day Hockey Gold Cup was performed by Colonel Jagtar Singh Multani, Chairman-cum-Managing Trustee (Jugraj Singh Gill Trust), while the eminent hockey writer S. Iqbal Singh Saroa presided over the event.

Over 100 participating hockey players were administered the oath to play in the spirit of sportsmanship by Lecturer Madam Rooppreet Kaur.
Under the leadership of Council President S. Jasbir Singh, in the inaugural match of the tournament, Namdhari Sports Academy Misl Nishananwali defeated SGPC Misl Shukarchakia by 4-3 goals. In the 15th minute of the match, SGPC player Diljeet Singh scored the first goal to put his team ahead by one goal, but Namdhari team player Amanatbir Singh scored a brilliant goal in the 21st minute to level the score. Thereafter, Namdhari’s Gurman Singh scored two consecutive goals in the 28th and 40th minutes to take his team ahead 3-1. In response, SGPC players Diljeet Singh (49th minute) and Bershubhjeet Singh (52nd minute) scored to equalize at 3-3. In the 59th minute, Namdhari’s Gurman Singh converted a penalty stroke into a goal, not only completing the tournament’s first hat-trick but also securing a splendid 4-3 victory for his team.
The second match was played between Shahabad Hockey Academy Misl Phulkian and M.B.S. Hockey Academy Simbal Camp Jammu Misl Singh Shaheedan, in which Shahabad players thrashed Jammu 11-1 in a one-sided contest. Shahabad player Arshdeep Singh earned the honor of scoring a hat-trick. In the third match of the league, Round Glass Misl Dallewalia defeated Sangrur Hockey Club Ramgarhia Misl by 7-1. For Round Glass: Sukhmanpreet Singh scored 4 goals, Jarman Singh, Arbapreet Singh, and Gurvinder Singh scored 1 each. Sangrur’s lone goal was scored by Barampreet Singh.
On this occasion, apart from others, Council President Jasbir Singh, Chairperson of Caring Human Madam Sarabjit Kaur, Maharaja Ranjit Singh Awardee International Cyclist Jagdeep Singh Kahlon, International Cyclist Bakhshish Singh, Prin. Krishan Singh, Amarjeet Singh Football Coach, Sher Jagjeet Singh, Dr. Gurcharan Singh, Ranjit Singh Dhaliwal, Kulwant Rai Sahota from Hockey Mohali, Mohan Singh, Satish Kumar Bhagi, Darshan Singh Joli, R.P. Singh, Gurjeet Singh, Parmjeet Singh Laggian, Navdeep Singh Laggian, Amrik Singh Bhagowalia, and other prominent personalities were present.
