Fifth Accused Apprehended in Toll Plaza Firing Incident Stemming from Old Enmity

Karnal, April 13:- The Karnal District Police have successfully apprehended the fifth accused in connection with a firing incident at the Pyont Toll Plaza—located within the jurisdiction of the Nissing Police Station—which was triggered by an old enmity. This operation was executed by joint teams constituted under the leadership of Sub-Inspector Sulinder Singh, In-charge of CIA Assandh, and Inspector Shri Bhagwan, Station House Officer (SHO) of Nissing Police Station.
The police team has arrested the fifth accused in the case, identified as Jaykaran, son of Inderjit, a resident of Ward No. 4, Assandh (Karnal). Prior to this, the police had already apprehended four other accused individuals: Ashish, son of Dilbagh Singh; Narendra, son of Suresh Kumar; Sumit Kumar, son of Jaisalmer Singh (all residents of Village Jaini); and Kavi Gollan, son of Hawa Singh (a resident of Village Lalen, District Karnal).
In this regard, the Investigating Officer stated that on the night of April 1, 2026, three vehicles approaching from the direction of Karnal arrived at the Pyont Toll Plaza at high speed, traveling in the wrong direction. The first vehicle rammed into a barricade, while the second vehicle—following closely behind—collided with the first one. During this sequence of events, a single round was fired. Following the incident, one vehicle proceeded towards Assandh, while the other two fled back towards Karnal. Upon receiving this information, the Nissing Police reached the scene immediately; based on the complaint filed, Case FIR No. 80 was registered on April 2, 2026, under Sections 281, 125, 287, and 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), as well as under the Arms Act.
Acting swiftly in the matter, the police teams analyzed the CCTV footage recorded at the toll plaza. Based on this analysis, the accused individual who fired the shot—identified as Jaykaran—was identified and subsequently arrested.
The arrested accused, Jaykaran, was produced before the Honorable Court today, and a 4-day police remand has been secured. Further investigation into the case is currently underway during this remand period, involving intensive interrogation of the accused to identify other individuals involved in the crime and to recover the illegal weapon used in the incident.
