Jaito, December 1: A press release issued by Ferozepur Railway Division of Northern Railway on Monday said that a cricket tournament was successfully conducted between different departments of Ferozepur Division from November 1 to November 30, 2025. In the first semi-final, Diesel Shed Ludhiana defeated Mechanical, while in the second semi-final, Engineering defeated Electric Shed Ludhiana.
In the final of the tournament on November 30, Engineering captain Mr. Rohit Verma won the toss and decided to bat first. The Engineering team scored 247 runs for the loss of 5 wickets in the allotted 20 overs, in which opener Mr. Ravi scored 145 runs off 71 balls. In reply, Diesel Shed Ludhiana could only score 214 runs for the loss of 7 wickets, losing the match by 33 runs. The match was quite exciting, but Engineering performed well and won the cup.
Shri Ravi was awarded the Man of the Match award, while Shri Luv Malhotra was awarded the Man of the Series, Shri Sanjeev the Best Bowler and Shri Ravi the Best Batsman for their excellent all-round performance in the tournament. At the end of the match, the prize distribution ceremony was attended by the Chief Guests: Divisional Railway Manager Shri Sanjeev Kumar, Senior Divisional Sports Officer Shri Rahul Dev, Senior Divisional Security Commissioner Shri Rishi Pandey, Divisional Sports Officer Shri Babar Ali Chagata, and other officers. Individual awards were also given to encourage the players.
The Divisional Railway Manager presented trophies to the winning and runner-up teams. Finally, the Divisional Railway Manager honored Senior Divisional Sports Officer Shri Rahul Dev, Divisional Sports Officer Shri Babar Ali Chagata, Sports Secretary Shri Sunil Kumar and other support staff by giving away mementos for the successful organization of the tournament.
The tournament proved to be very popular, in which railway officers and employees participated enthusiastically. The tournament concluded with a display of excellent sportsmanship.
