Fake Vigilance Officer Arrested for Extorting Money by Threatening TTE

Ambala, July 28: An accused who was extorting money from a TTE (Travelling Ticket Examiner) on the Chhattisgarh Express (18238) by posing as a vigilance officer has been arrested. He was apprehended by a joint team of the Railway Protection Force (RPF) and the Government Railway Police (GRP). The accused has been identified as Sudhir Kumar (57), a resident of Vasant Vihar, New Delhi.
Information regarding this imposter vigilance officer was received by the control room late Tuesday night; the details were subsequently passed on to the CBI and RPF units. A raid was conducted on the A-2 AC coach, and the fake vigilance officer was apprehended. A search of his person led to the recovery of a fake railway vigilance identity card and a Motorola walkie-talkie.
The GRP has registered an FIR against the accused under various sections and initiated legal proceedings. The railway police intend to take him into custody on remand to trace other individuals involved.
