Facebook holds 30 percent stake in Reliances AI venture

NEW DELHI: Meta Platforms, Inc.'s Facebook Overseas will hold a 30 percent stake in billionaire Mukesh Ambani's Reliance Industries' AI (Artificial Intelligence) venture, according to a regulatory filing. Reliance will hold a 70 percent stake in RAIL, the company said in the filing.
Reliance Intelligence, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Reliance Industries Ltd, and Facebook will jointly invest an initial Rs 855 crore in the venture.
The company said in the filing that Reliance Intelligence Ltd incorporated Reliance Enterprise Intelligence Ltd (RAIL) on October 24, 2025.
It said, “RAIL, which is incorporated as a wholly-owned subsidiary of Reliance Intelligence in India, will become a joint venture company with Facebook Overseas, Inc. (Facebook) as per the amended and restated agreement.”
RAIL will develop, market and distribute enterprise AI services. “As per the joint venture agreement, Reliance Intelligence will hold 70 per cent stake in RAIL and Facebook will hold the remaining 30 per cent stake,” it said.
Reliance Intelligence and Facebook have jointly committed an initial investment of Rs 855 crore. No government or regulatory approval was required for the incorporation of RAIL.
