Una, January 14: An eye check-up camp was organized today (Wednesday) at ISBT Una under the road safety campaign, courtesy of the Transport and Health Departments. During the camp, Dr. Suresh Chaudhary, an ophthalmologist from the Health Department, conducted free eye examinations for approximately 80 drivers, including drivers of Himachal Pradesh Path Transport Corporation buses, auto-rickshaw drivers, taxi operators, and private bus drivers.
RTO Una, Ashok Kumar, said that during the eye check-up camp, spectacles were prescribed for 25 drivers, which will be provided by the Transport Department. He said that with the objective of making the road safety campaign a success, awareness camps are being organized through various departments to educate people about road safety rules.
The RTO said that on this occasion, all the drivers were given detailed information about the mandatory use of helmets and seat belts while driving, adherence to prescribed speed limits, avoiding the use of mobile phones while driving, Good Samaritan rules, and the importance of safe driving practices. He said that compliance with road safety rules is extremely important to reduce road accidents.
He also urged the bus drivers to educate others about making traffic rules an integral part of their daily routine and ensuring compliance with road safety rules.
