Karnal, October 23: Panic erupted in Karnal's Ramnagar area on Thursday morning when a cylinder filled with nitrogen gas suddenly exploded. The sound was so powerful that it echoed far and wide. Window panes of nearby houses shattered and the windshields of several vehicles parked in the street were shattered. Fortunately, no one was present at home at the time of the incident, averting a major tragedy.

According to locals, the cylinder in which the explosion occurred was used for inflating balloons. Residents of the colony reported that despite repeated warnings, the family continued to do this work at home. Around 7 a.m., when everyone was asleep, a loud explosion suddenly sounded. People rushed out of their homes in fear.
The force of the blast was so powerful that the main door of the house where the cylinder was stored was blown off and thrown several meters away. Items inside the house were also damaged, and glass shards scattered across the street.

A woman in the street said she was sweeping outside her house and had gone to throw garbage near her Activa when suddenly there was a loud explosion, and the cylinder began to spin around due to the pressure. "I ran in fear, and when I looked back, the cylinder had exploded. If I had waited a few seconds longer, I might not have survived."

**Concerns had been raised before, but warnings were not heeded.
Residents of Ramnagar Colony reported that the family involved in inflating balloons had been repeatedly told that keeping such gas cylinders in their homes was dangerous. The issue had been debated in the colony before, but the family ignored their concerns.
The landlord had also been warned that working with gas in residential areas posed a threat to the safety of others. Residents expressed their concern that the administration should immediately ban such dangerous activities.

**"We did nothing intentionally, we had been doing this for 10 years."
The woman who worked as a balloon inflator explained that the explosion occurred while the cylinder was kept outside and nitrogen gas was being produced inside the house. She said, "We did not make any intentional mistake. 
We have been doing this work for 10 years, but nothing like this has ever happened before." The woman stated that no one was injured, only the house and surrounding property were damaged.

**Police launched an investigation, CCTV footage captured the explosion.
The Ramnagar police station in-charge stated that they received information about a cylinder blast. A police team arrived at the scene and inspected the entire area. No injuries were reported, although nearby houses and vehicles were damaged.
He stated that the police have launched an investigation. If a complaint is received, action will be taken as per the law. CCTV footage of the blast has also emerged, showing that the door of the house was blown off course and thrown several meters away. Police are now incorporating the footage into the investigation to gather information about the exact cause of the incident and possible negligence.
