New Delhi: Stressing the importance of promoting Indian languages ??and culture, Prime Minister Narendra Modi urged startup leaders to expand AI tools in mother tongue for higher education. Modi held a roundtable meeting with CEOs of AI and deeptech startups at Seva Tirath on Friday morning.
The Prime Minister congratulated the innovators for taking bold steps and developing effective solutions.
He discussed the potential of using AI technology in various areas like agriculture and environmental protection, including monitoring crop productivity and fertilizer use to protect soil health. Stressing the importance of promoting Indian languages ??and culture, he called for expanding AI tools in mother tongue for higher education.
In his interaction with the officials, Modi stressed the need for robust data management and urged them to develop solutions tailored to India's needs, while cautioning against misinformation. Describing UPI as a model of simple and scalable digital innovation, he expressed confidence in Indian companies and encouraged confidence in domestic products. He also called for increased private participation in the space sector and noted strong investor interest in Indian startups.
The leading startups participating in this roundtable are addressing demographic challenges. In healthcare, they are using AI for advanced diagnostics, gene therapy and efficient patient record management to provide quality care up to the last mile. In agriculture, they are leveraging geospatial and underwater intelligence to increase productivity and help manage climate risks.
The group also includes ventures focused on cybersecurity, ethical AI, space, justice and social empowerment by modernizing legacy systems to strengthen access to local language education, and enterprise productivity. Together, they represent an ecosystem that builds global leadership in AI-driven innovation while addressing local needs. The AI ??startups lauded India’s continued efforts to strengthen its artificial intelligence ecosystem. Highlighting the rapid expansion and immense potential of the sector, they said that the global momentum of AI innovation and deployment is rapidly shifting towards India. They said that the country now provides a supportive and dynamic environment for AI development, establishing its strong presence in the global AI landscape. He also praised the India AI Impact Summit, calling it a reflection of the country's growing reputation in shaping the global discourse related to AI.

The meeting was also attended by Principal Secretary PK Mishra, Principal Secretary-II Shaktikanta Das and Minister of State Jitin Prasad.
