Every Friday War on Dengue Civil Surgeon Conducts Checking in Balongi
Sahibzada Ajit Singh Nagar, October 31: Under the ‘Every Friday, War on Dengue’ campaign, inspection and awareness activities are continuing at various places in the district. Under the leadership of Civil Surgeon Dr. Sangeeta Jain, today all Senior Medical Officers of the district conducted container surveys in high-risk areas. Dr. Jain checked containers in Balongi to find larvae of the mosquito responsible for dengue fever and inspected other potential breeding sites for mosquitoes.
Along with giving instructions to the officials, she also explained in detail to the people about the symptoms, causes, prevention, and treatment of dengue fever and appealed that water should not be allowed to stagnate anywhere. She said that more vigilance is needed these days because dengue fever is common. She said that public cooperation is extremely essential to make the district dengue-free.
Inspection teams have specially included members of Rural Health Sanitation Committees and Residents Welfare Associations.
The Civil Surgeon informed that on the instructions of the Punjab Government, the ‘Every Friday, War on Dengue’ campaign is running with full vigor across the district. Officials along with other staff are conducting house-to-house surveys, and action is also being taken to issue challans.
During the survey, containers, pots, coolers, fridges, boxes, and other items are being checked. She said that the only effective way to prevent dengue is to ensure that water does not stagnate anywhere.
Dr. Jain informed that the larva of the mosquito spreading dengue fever turns into a dangerous mosquito within a few days, which can even take a person's life. She said that there is no fixed season for dengue fever, but generally, this fever is more common from July to the end of November.
The mosquito spreading dengue fever bites during the day and breeds in clean water. Testing and treatment for dengue is free in government health institutions. For information, one can contact the Health Department's helpline number 104.
On this occasion, Senior Medical Officer Dr. Preet Mohan Singh, District Epidemiologist Dr. Anamika Soni, and other officials were present.
**Symptoms of Dengue Fever
Dengue is a fever caused by the bite of a mosquito named Aedes aegypti. Common symptoms of dengue include severe headache and high fever, pain in muscles and joints, pain behind the eyes, bleeding from the nose, mouth, and gums if the condition worsens, nausea, and vomiting, etc.
