Every Friday Strike Against Dengue

Sahibzada Ajit Singh Nagar, October 24: The District Health Department is actively running the "Every Friday, Strike Against Dengue" campaign with full vigor in the district. Due to extensive house-to-house inspections, awareness campaigns, and proactive preventive measures, the district has recorded significantly fewer dengue cases this year compared to previous years. Providing this information, Civil Surgeon Dr. Sangeeta Jain and District Epidemiologist Dr. Anamika Soni stated that health teams have surveyed 5,24,654 houses in the district from March this year until now.
Out of these, mosquito larvae were found in 7,963 houses. Similarly, 16,03,712 containers were checked, of which 10,769 contained mosquito larvae. They appealed to the public to cooperate with the Health Department in this campaign and take precautions to protect themselves from this deadly fever, as the risk of dengue fever spreading is higher during these days.
During the campaign, District Health Department teams conducted inspections at various private hospitals and nursing homes in the district today, checking containers for mosquito larvae responsible for dengue fever and inspecting other potential mosquito breeding sites.
The people present were thoroughly informed about the symptoms, causes, prevention, and treatment of dengue fever. The inspection teams specifically included members of rural health sanitation committees and residents’ welfare associations. The checking campaign was overseen by senior health officials of the district.
Dr. Jain explained that the larvae of the mosquito that spreads dengue fever develop into dangerous mosquitoes within a few days, which can even be fatal. She noted that there is no specific season for dengue fever, but it is generally more prevalent from July to the end of November.
The mosquito that spreads dengue bites during the day and breeds in clean water. Testing and treatment for dengue are free at government health institutions. For more information, people can contact the Health Department’s helpline number 104.
