Environmental compensation imposed on two farmers in cases of stubble burning
Nawanshahr- On the instructions of the Punjab government, the district administration is making farmers aware of the instructions issued in every village and taking necessary action against farmers who violate the instructions issued in view of public interest. Giving information in this regard, Additional Deputy Commissioner (Development) Avneet Kaur said that strict action is being taken while taking the cases of stubble burning seriously.
She said that so far, an environmental compensation of Rs. 15,000 has been imposed on two farmers in the district and the process of registering an FIR along with a red entry in the fard of these farmers has also been initiated.
Additional Deputy Commissioner Avneet Kaur, while reviewing the stubble management in the fields with the officers of agriculture and other concerned departments, said that SDMs and DSPs in the sub-divisions have been asked to ensure joint patrolling in the field.
So that any incident of paddy stubble or straw catching fire can be monitored. He said that if the case of stubble burning in the fields comes to light, appropriate action will definitely be taken as per the instructions.
Avneet Kaur appealed to all the farmers of the district that no farmer should set stubble on fire and ensure proper management in the fields by using machinery. Chief Agriculture Officer Dr. Rakesh Kumar Sharma said that more than 2700 stubble management machines are available in the district and IEC activities are also being carried out by the Agriculture Department to make the farmers aware.
Sub Divisional Magistrate Nawanshahr Anamjyot Kaur PCS, Sub Divisional Magistrate Banga Vipin Bhandari, DSP Raj Kumar, Engineer Chandan Sharma, Dr. Kamaldeep Singh Sangha etc. were present on this occasion.
