England defeated the Indian mens hockey team 24
Amstelveen: India suffered a 2-4 defeat at the hands of higher-ranked England in their second Pool match of the Men's Hockey World Cup here on Monday, after missing several scoring opportunities. Nicholas Bandurak gave England the lead in the 13th minute, but India fought back to take a 2-1 lead in the Pool D match thanks to goals from captain Harmanpreet Singh (16th minute) and Dilpreet Singh (24th minute). However, England put up a brilliant performance in the second half, with Zach Wallace (38th) and Henry Croft (42nd) scoring in the third quarter.
Subsequently, Bandurak (54th) scored his second goal of the match, helping England defeat India 4-2. India, currently holding three points from their matches so far, must either win or draw their final Pool match on Wednesday against Pakistan (who have one point from two matches) to qualify for the next round. A loss against Pakistan, however, would see India eliminated from the tournament.
