Electricity workers strike continues for third day work remains stalled

Patiala, July 23:- On the call of the Technical Service Union, hundreds of electricity workers of Patiala Circle went on strike for the third consecutive day on Thursday and stopped work. The union leaders demanded that the government fulfill the long-pending demands of the employees at the earliest.
Technical Service Union Circle President Harjit Singh Sekho and Circle Assistant Secretary Inderjit Singh said in a joint statement that during the strike, the electricity workers took collective leave and stopped work. He said that the privatization policies should be canceled, the letter issued on 17-07-2026 should be withdrawn, electricity workers should be given benefits as per the Sixth Pay Commission instead of the Seventh, regular employees should be made permanent, assistant linemen should be given a pay scale of ?35,400, Banarsi Das, who was struggling against privatization, should be reinstated as per the Supreme Court decision, the old pension scheme should be implemented and the dearness allowance (DA) of the employees should be increased to 60 percent.
He said that more than 400 electricity workers participated in the protest. The protest was addressed by other leaders including Harjit Singh, Inderjit Singh, Bhagwan Singh, Karamjit Singh, Vijay Dev and Gurdeep Singh from the Technical Service Union.
On this occasion, Dilpreet Singh, Bikkar Khan, Davinder Singh Happy and Mangal Singh from the fraternal organization CHB Union also expressed their views. CHB Union leaders said that if necessary, they would stand shoulder to shoulder with the Technical Service Union in its struggle.
