Efforts to streamline Una city intensify

Una, December 5: The district administration is continuously striving to streamline traffic in Una city, ensure pedestrian safety, and control haphazard roadside parking and unauthorized vending. In this regard, District Magistrate Jatin Lal on Friday issued two important orders under Sections 115 and 117 of the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988, to improve traffic management on major roads in the city. These orders have been implemented with immediate effect.

*Now the entire stretch from DC Chowk to Om Bhujia Bhandar is a 'No Parking-No Vending Zone'*
According to the order, the No Parking-No Vending Zone has been extended from DC Chowk to Om Bhujia Bhandar. Under an earlier order, the route from DC Chowk to Degree College Una was declared a 'No Parking-No Vending' zone. Now, this restricted area has been extended from DC Chowk to Om Bhujia Bhandar.
All illegal parking and vending activities will be strictly prohibited in this expanded area. The rules, provisions, and penalties under the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988, will now apply uniformly along this entire route.
Relevant enforcement agencies have been directed to ensure strict compliance with the orders.

The route from Lal Batti Chowk to Regional Hospital Una has also been declared a 'No Parking-No Vending Zone'.
The Deputy Commissioner stated that it has been noticed that irregular parking and unauthorized vending on the route from Lal Batti Chowk to Regional Hospital Una are causing traffic disruptions, inconvenience, and safety hazards to pedestrians. Considering the circumstances, the entire route has been declared a 'No Parking-No Vending Zone' on both sides with immediate effect.
Only two pre-marked stops on this route, one in front of the exit gate of the old bus stand and the other in front of Suvidha Palace, have been retained. The Sub-Divisional Magistrate, Una, has been directed to ensure proper marking of these bus stops.
The local police and transport department have been instructed to ensure strict compliance with the order. Violation of the order will result in punitive action under the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988, and other relevant provisions.

Smooth traffic, safe roads, and improved amenities for citizens are the goal.
DC Jatin Lal stated that the administration is taking concrete steps to address the increasing traffic congestion, unauthorized roadside parking, and encroachment in Una city.
He stated that the purpose of these orders is not only to improve traffic flow, but also to strengthen road safety, ensure easy access for pedestrians, and create a healthy, disciplined, and welcoming environment in the market.
He appealed to all citizens, traders, and drivers to cooperate with the administration to ensure compliance with these instructions and contribute to making Una city a better, safer, and more organized city.
