ED issues fresh summons to Anil Ambani and wife Tina Ambani

New Delhi: The Enforcement Directorate has issued fresh summons to Reliance Group Chairman Anil Ambani and his wife Tina Ambani for questioning next week in a money laundering case. 68-year-old Tina Ambani is also a former actress who was asked to appear by the federal agency on Monday, but she did not turn up. According to officials, she has now been asked to appear on February 17 and Anil Ambani on February 18. Their statements will be recorded under the 'Prevention of Money Laundering Act'.
According to information, Tina Ambani has been called for questioning about money transactions related to the purchase of a luxury condominium in Manhattan, New York.
The ED has recently arrested former Reliance Communications president Puneet Garg in this case. The agency claims that Garg "fraudulently" sold the New York property during the insolvency proceedings of Reliance Communications in 2023.
According to the investigating agency, the proceeds of the sale were sent to a Dubai-based entity through a fake investment arrangement run by a Pakistani-origin person. On the directions of the Supreme Court, the ED has formed a Special Investigation Team to investigate several cases of bank fraud and financial irregularities against the Anil Dhirubhai Ambani Group.
Assets worth Rs 12,000 crore have been seized so far as part of this investigation. The Reliance Group is yet to respond to these summons.
