Karnal, October 30: A shocking case of honeytrap and blackmailing has come to light in the Assandh area of Karnal district. Police have arrested a mother and daughter for attempting to extort ?5 lakh from a man. Police caught the young woman red-handed while accepting ?20,000, while her mother was later detained.
**Pharmacist threatened and demanded ?5 lakh
DSP Asandh Gorakhpal Rana said that the complaint was filed by Sunil, a pharmacist. Three girls worked at his medical store, one of whom had joined the job about a month ago. After working for about 15-20 days, the young woman began plotting to trap the pharmacist. He falsely accused the pharmacist and threatened to file a rape case against him and demanded five lakh rupees in return. The woman's mother also threatened to file a police complaint if the money was not paid.
**Police Action Following Complaint and Evidence
The victim collected audio and video evidence of the woman's conversation with her mother and handed it over to the police. After verifying the evidence, the police laid a trap in the presence of the duty magistrate. A deal was agreed for ?20,000 in cash, and as soon as the woman took the money, the police apprehended her on the spot. Her mother was also arrested a short time later.
**?30,000 Had Already Transferred
Investigation revealed that the victim pharmacist had already transferred ?30,000 to their account. When he arrived today to deliver the ?20,000, the police raided the place and arrested the accused.

DSP Rana said that there is no need to fear such cases of honeytrap and blackmailing. Victims should immediately inform the police so that strict action can be taken against the perpetrators.
