Sahibzada Ajit Singh Nagar, February 9:- The Department of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, Government of Punjab has appointed Dr. Sukhjinder Singh Bajwa, Chief Agriculture Officer, Sahibzada Ajit Singh Nagar, as Chief Agriculture Officer, SAS Nagar through special orders. In the year 1993, Dr. Sukhjinder Singh Bajwa completed his M.Sc. in Agricultural Economics from Khalsa College, Amritsar and in the year 1996, he joined as Agricultural Development Officer (District Cum) Rajpura, District Patiala and served as Agricultural Development Officer till the year 2021.
He was promoted as Agricultural Officer in the year 2021 and worked as Assistant Sugarcane Commissioner, Office of Director of Agriculture, Punjab and Block Agriculture Officer, Derabassi. After promotion, he served as Deputy Director Agriculture (LCPP) during the year 2025-26 and took charge as Chief Agriculture Officer, SAS Nagar from 09.02.2026. He asked various officers and employees working in the Department of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, SAS Nagar to ensure that farmers are provided benefits under various schemes being run by the government for the welfare of farmers and to ensure the supply of high quality agricultural inputs.
On this occasion, Dr. Gurmel Singh, who has been promoted from Chief Agriculture Officer, SAS Nagar to Joint Director Agriculture Punjab, was present and congratulated Dr. Sukhjinder Singh Bajwa on his appointment as Chief Agriculture Officer, SAS Nagar.
