Dr Darshan Singh Aasht becomes Assistant Registrar of Punjabi University Patiala
Patiala, December 27:- In the light of the orders issued by Dr. Jagdeep Singh, Vice-Chancellor of Punjabi University, Patiala, Shiromani Punjabi Children’s Literature writer, Sahit Akademi Children’s Literature Award winner and State Awardee Dr. Darshan Singh ‘Aasht* has been promoted as Assistant Registrar of Punjabi University Patiala. He has assumed this prestigious post. He has expressed special gratitude to the Vice-Chancellor of the University, Dr. Jagdeep Singh for his promotion.
Before joining the service at Punjabi University, Patiala, Dr. Darshan Singh ‘Aasht* worked as a daily wage worker at Punjab State Power Corporation Limited, Rajpura for about two years at a daily wage of Rs. 10 per day. Later, when the daily wage workers were dismissed from the services by the board, Dr. ‘Aasht* worked as a scribe with a lawyer at the District Courts, Patiala for a year at a daily wage of Rs. 10 per day.
Then he worked privately in the court for about one and a half years by renting a Punjabi typewriter. Along with this, he also continued to learn Punjabi stenography at the private level. On November 10, 1986, he was appointed as a steno typist at Punjabi University, Patiala. In the year 2011, he was promoted as a senior stenographer and in the year 2018, as a personal assistant.
While serving in various departments, Dr. Asht also wrote five books for Punjabi University, many of which have been published in more than one edition.
It is noteworthy that in addition to obtaining higher academic degrees like MA (Punjabi and Urdu) and PhD, Dr. Asht, who has been honored with many international, national and state level awards, has published 130 books in almost all languages ??of India as well as abroad.
As a writer, he has also had the privilege of attending functions held at Rashtrapati Bhavan, New Delhi, twice. Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Asht said that the progress made by the university has increased his pride and responsibility, for which he is grateful to his workplace, Punjabi University.
