Doctors at Livasa Hospital Khanna dispel myths about dialysis
Khanna: On Wednesday, doctors at Livasa Hospital, Khanna, dispelled many common myths about dialysis, saying there's no need to fear it and it's not always permanent.
Addressing a press conference, Dr. Deepali Kaushal, Consultant Nephrologist and Transplant Physician at Livasa Hospital, said that in some cases, such as acute kidney injury, dialysis may only be required temporarily until kidney function improves. She added that awareness and timely medical consultation are crucial for better outcomes.
She explained that uncontrolled diabetes and high blood pressure are among the leading causes of chronic kidney disease.
"Kidney disease often progresses silently, and many patients remain unaware until significant damage is already done. People with diabetes or high blood pressure should have regular checkups and strictly control their blood pressure and blood sugar levels."
Dr. Deepali explained that kidney failure can be largely delayed or prevented with early detection and timely treatment.
Dr. Angadjot Singh, Consultant Urologist and Andrologist at Livasa Hospital, Khanna, highlighted the surgical aspect of kidney and urinary tract care, saying that advances in technology have made the treatment of kidney stones and other urinary problems much safer and more effective.
Dr. Singh said, "Advanced laser endourology techniques are now being used to treat kidney and ureteral stones. These procedures are minimally invasive, require no external incisions, have minimal bleeding, and patients recover faster."
