Doctor suicide case Rahul Gandhi talks to family of deceased

Mumbai- The victim has alleged in a suicide note written on her hand that she was raped and mentally harassed by two Satara police personnel for the last five months.
Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi on Wednesday spoke to the family members of a woman doctor who allegedly committed suicide in Maharashtra's Satara district over the phone and assured them of support in the fight for justice.
The family members of the doctor, demanding justice for her, appealed to Gandhi to put pressure on the government to constitute a special investigation team to investigate the death.
They said that it has been a week since the doctor's death and they fear that evidence may be destroyed. Gandhi spoke to the parents and siblings of the deceased through Maharashtra Congress president Harshvardhan Sapkal's phone.
The Congress MP assured them that he would put pressure on the government to constitute an SIT to investigate the case. It is noteworthy that the 28-year-old doctor was found hanging in a hotel room in Phaltan town of Satara district on the night of October 23.
She had alleged in a note written on her hand that police sub-inspector Gopal Badne raped her several times, while Prashant Banker, a software engineer, mentally harassed her. Both were arrested on October 25.
