DistrictLevel Meeting of the Old Pension Restoration Struggle Committee Held
Hoshiarpur – A significant district-level meeting of the Old Pension Restoration Struggle Committee was held at Pandav Talab, Dasuya, under the leadership of District President Sanjeev Dhut and General Secretary Tilak Raj. State Convener Jasvir Talwara, Finance Secretary Varinder Vicky, Prince Paliyal (Gardhiwala), and Rajat Mahajan were notably present at the meeting.
During the meeting, past struggles were reviewed, and a future strategy was formulated. The leaders alleged that the Punjab government is deliberately keeping in abeyance the incomplete notification regarding the restoration of the Old Pension Scheme, which was issued on November 18, 2022.
They stated that while the employees are distressed, the Chief Minister remains occupied with foreign tours. The leaders further pointed out that many employees retiring under the NPS (New Pension Scheme) are compelled to work as daily wage laborers just to make ends meet, yet the Punjab government continues to remain a silent spectator regarding this issue.
They issued a warning that wherever the Chief Minister travels within Punjab, members of the Struggle Committee will register their protest by waving black flags. The leaders also alleged that the Punjab government is acting at the behest of the Central Government—a situation that will not be tolerated.
The Struggle Committee demanded that the Punjab government restore the Old Pension Scheme as soon as possible; otherwise, approximately 200,000 employees and their families will vigorously oppose the government in the upcoming elections.
Also present on this occasion were Jasvir Bodal, Umesh Kumar, Chaman Lal, Vipin Kumar, Manmohan Singh, Jaswinder Bulhowal, Ashok Bulhowal, Gurkirpal Bodal, and Satpal Kamahi Devi.
