Sahibzada Ajit Singh Nagar, 18 August 2026:- Under directions of Director Youth Services Punjab with cooperation of Punjab State AIDS Control Society, district level Red Run Marathon was organized at local Amity University Mohali under leadership of Captain (Retired) Mantej Singh Cheema Assistant Director Youth Services. In which various colleges, universities participated.
On this occasion addressing youth Mantej Singh Cheema said that youth are backbone of any country. Future of country is in hands of youth and their physical and mental health is very important. He told that objective of marathon is to keep youth away from effect of drugs, to make them aware about HIV, to encourage Voluntary Blood Donation Campaign and to contribute valuable in making TB-free India campaign successful.
Full cooperation was given by Dr. Dalip Kumar Registrar and Dr. Puneet Sharma Vice Chancellor from University. Valuable contribution was given by Dr. Damanpreet Singh Chugh Associate Professor, Programme Coordinator Red Ribbon Club for conducting programme in smooth manner.
In Red Run Marathon separate competitions were conducted for girls and boys. In girls marathon Sneha Jha Government College Dera Bassi got first, Santosh Jha Government College Dera Bassi got second and Harkirat Kaur Chandigarh University Gharuan got third place. In boys marathon Aditya Rai Government Polytechnic College Khoonimajra got first, Parvez Ansari Chandigarh University Gharuan got second, Abhiudit Singh Chandigarh University Gharuan got third place. Role of judgement was played by Kulwinder Kaur Athletic Coach, Preetpal Singh Athletic Coach, Rahul Athletic Coach.
Winning teams were honoured with medals, certificates and prize money etc and participants were given certificates. On this occasion S. Gurbakshish Singh Programme Coordinator Red Ribbon Club Government Polytechnic College was present. Mrs. Charanjit Kaur Steno played important role in getting programme conducted successfully.
These district level winning teams will participate in State level Red Run Marathon.
