District Level Advisory Committee Meeting Held on PCPNDT Act

Una, January 5. A meeting of the district-level advisory committee constituted under the PC-PNDT Act was held on Monday, chaired by Chief Medical Officer Dr. Sanjeev Kumar Verma. Government and non-government members of the committee participated in the meeting. The meeting reviewed the efforts being made in the district for the protection of the girl child, women's empowerment, and maintaining a balanced sex ratio.
The Chief Medical Officer stated that the Health Department is ensuring effective monitoring, awareness, and enforcement to maintain a healthy child sex ratio in the district. He said that special vigilance is being maintained in border areas, and all ultrasound centers are regularly inspected.
He informed that currently, 27 ultrasound centers and one IVF center are registered in the district, where complete compliance with all legal provisions is being ensured. He also stated that no complaints have been received from any area so far, which reflects the transparent and strict monitoring system of the Health Department.
Dr. Verma said that the protection of the girl child is being prioritized through the effective implementation of the PC and PNDT Act, and all necessary steps have been ensured under the law.
He informed that meetings will be organized at the block level in the coming days, and health-related information boards will be installed at the panchayat level to increase awareness. Additionally, it will be mandatory for all health institutions in the district to maintain separate registers for recording data related to the child sex ratio, so that the monitoring system can be further strengthened.
District Council member Basal Urmila Sharma, Panchayat Head Dharampur Subhadra Devi, Panchayat Head Bathu Surekha Rana, Panchayat Head Haroli Raman Kumari, along with Medical Health Officer Sukhdeep Singh, Dr. Ekta, and Dr. Vikas Chauhan, and other members were present at the meeting.
