District Health Society meeting reviews progress of various national health programs

Hoshiarpur- As per the directions of Deputy Commissioner Ashika Jain, an important meeting of the District Health Society was held under the chairmanship of Additional Deputy Commissioner (Development) Nikas Kumar at the Ashok Chakra Meeting Hall of the District Administrative Complex.
The meeting was attended by all the District Program Officers, SMOs and other officers/employees of the Health Department under the leadership of Civil Surgeon Dr. Balvir Kumar. During this, the progress of various national health programs and schemes was reviewed in detail and necessary guidelines were issued for the future.
At the beginning of the meeting, Civil Surgeon Dr. Balvir Kumar gave information about all the health programs running in the district. ADC Nikas Kumar gave instructions to ensure timely registration of pregnant women and said that 100 percent registration should be done at all block levels. SMOs were directed to hold weekly review meetings and to emphasize the need for special care for high-risk pregnant women and to strengthen and streamline maternity services in government hospitals.
The ADC specifically directed the SMOs of those blocks where the sex ratio is low to investigate the reasons and take corrective steps. Instructions were also given to achieve the target of 100 percent coverage and to keep the records updated online.
In addition, additional efforts were urged to meet the targets of family planning programmes. The meeting also reviewed the cases of dengue, malaria and chikungunya under the National Vector Borne Disease Control Programme.
The progress of TB Control Programme, Leprosy Control Programme, Tobacco Control Programme, Hepatitis Control Programme, and Ayushman Bharat - Health Insurance Scheme etc. was also discussed. The department was given necessary guidelines to implement all the programs in a more effective and systematic manner.
