District Health Department issues advisory to protect against air pollution
Sahibzada Ajit Singh Nagar, November 6: In view of the arrival of cold weather and deterioration in air quality, the District Health Department has issued an advisory for the residents of the district. Civil Surgeon Dr. Sangeeta Jain said that due to the arrival of cold weather and increase in air pollution, cases of viral fever, cough, cold, headache, nervousness and respiratory problems are increasing these days.
Due to which the residents of the district should take precautions to protect against cold and air pollution. He said that children, elderly people, pregnant women, people suffering from chronic respiratory diseases and people with low immunity need to be more careful these days.
He said that the website of the Pollution Control Board should be visited to see the level of air pollution. If the AQI is more than 200, then one should avoid going out. Especially in the morning or late evening, one should avoid going to crowded areas. During this period, the windows and doors of the houses should be kept closed.
Dr. Jain said that those who are facing problems like difficulty in breathing, cough, chest discomfort, headache, itchy eyes, etc., should immediately go to the nearest government health institution to see a doctor. High-risk groups, especially children, elderly people, pregnant women, should avoid going out. If they have to go out, they should cover their face.
He also advised that wood, leaves, crop residues should not be burned in the open and fireworks should also be avoided as they increase air pollution. He appealed to the people to consume seasonal fruits, avoid smoking and use of tobacco products and consume maximum water so that there is no shortage of water in the body.
He also said that while traveling in a car, the windows should be kept closed and the public transport system should be used as much as possible. The process of planting as many trees as possible should also be initiated so that air quality can be improved and health problems associated with air pollution can be reduced.
