Una, May 14: On the first day of the nomination withdrawal process for the 17 wards of Una district under the District Council elections, four candidates withdrew their nomination papers today (Thursday). Among them, Preeti from Ward 16 (Chalet) in Gagret and Sham Lal from Ward 17 (Bhanjal Lower) withdrew their nominations. Similarly, Sunita Kumari from Ward 2 (Kuthera Khairla) in Amb and Pawan Kumar from Ward 4 (Sohari) in Bangana withdrew their nomination papers. Apart from these instances, no candidates withdrew their nominations in Haroli or Una. Currently, 49 candidates remain in the electoral fray.
District Election Officer and Deputy Commissioner Jatin Lal stated that a total of 55 candidates had filed nomination papers in the district; of these, the nominations of two candidates were rejected, while four candidates withdrew their papers today.
He further informed that candidates would be able to withdraw their names on May 15. Upon the completion of the withdrawal process, election symbols will be allotted to the candidates, and the final list of contesting candidates will be published.
