Hoshiarpur:- In the memory of Late Bhagat Singh and Smt. Rama Rani, wife of Sodhi Lal Coach, the two-day Basketball Championship organized under the leadership of Eng. Surinder Sandhu, District President Basketball Association, concluded with pomp at Maruli Brahmana. The championship was inaugurated by Sant Ram Murti Ji Nara Wale and Varinder Kumar, District Attorney Hoshiarpur.
In the boys under 14 years, Purhiran won first place and Dasuha team won second place. In the boys under 14 years, Mukerian won first place and Hoshiarpur wing won second place. In the boys under 19 years, Purhiran won first place and Tanda won second place. Similarly, in the under-19 girls' Lajwanti Sports Wing, the first and Maruli Brahmins team secured the second place.
On this occasion, District Basketball Association President: Surinder Sandhu and General Secretary Prem Singh welcomed the chief guests and also honored Sodhi Lal coach and Bhagat Singh's father Santokh Singh and International Cyclist Balraj Singh Chauhan.
To bless the players, MLA of Halqa Chabbewal Dr. Ishaq Kumar attended as a special guest. On this occasion, Dr. Ishaq said that it is very important for children to be interested in sports along with studies, along with physical fitness, sports also prove to be effective in stopping the trend of drug addiction. On this occasion, Dr. Ishaq announced a grant of Rs. 2 lakh to the District Basketball Association from his discretionary quota.
