Hoshiarpur:- Under Road Safety Week, a comprehensive campaign is being launched in Hoshiarpur district with the aim of preventing road accidents and making the common citizens aware about safe traffic. This campaign is being led by Deputy Commissioner Ashika Jain and SSP Sandeep Kumar Malik. The district administration is continuously trying to provide essential facilities and information related to road safety to the common people in coordination with various departments.
Under the campaign, people are being made aware about the use of helmets and seat belts, prevention of overspeeding, not driving under the influence of drugs and following traffic rules. Awareness programs are being organized in schools, colleges and public places so that the message of road safety reaches every section.
RTO Amandeep Kaur informed that under the District Road Safety Works, improvement works are being carried out by the Public Works Department's Excise Department on the major roads of the district. In these works, they are being made safe by installing road signs, speed breakers, reflectors, signboards and identifying black spots, which can ensure safe and easy travel for the passengers. Deputy Commissioner Ashika Jain said that road safety is not only the responsibility of the administration, but the collective responsibility of every citizen of the block society. She appealed to the people to follow the traffic rules and stay safe themselves and also contribute to the safety of others.
